SEO Web Marketing: Generate Traffic Using SEO Web Promotion: Part 2 of 2

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 |

In my last post I mentioned that it is now possible to find buyers with cash in hand without spending a lot of money on advertising and “off page” strategies. The down side to taking a “do-it-yourself” approach (or hiring a SEO web marketing expert to do it for you) is that it takes time and can prove to be labor intensive.  It can, nevertheless, be done, given a bit of patience and perseverance. This can be used to your advantage, however, since Google likes to see you emerge as an online sensation gradually and non-sensationally.

Chances are the search engine has changed its algorithm since my last post about getting traffic. Yes, change is the one constant in the search engine world. But change is often a good thing. If anything, it keeps us from going stale.

For now, here’s the second half of that list of six deceptively simple SEO web promotion techniques that go beyond basic “on page” optimization to pull visitors to your site like moths to a bright flickering flame.

Strategy 4. Offer Your Thoughts and Advice At Online Forums and User Groups

No matter what your niche, you will find a related forum, Yahoo! Group, Google Newsgroup, or other online community. Find these, see how the members interact with each other, learn what types of information are expected and accepted, and then get responsibly involved. This strategy takes so much time and focused effort that you may decide to outsource it to professional posters looking for work at Elance.com, RentACoder.com, or any of the other freelance work sites.

Strategy 5. List Your Website and/or Blog in Online Directories

The trick to gaining relevant listings is to avoid using the same text in every directory to describe your site. Switch things up to avoid being cited for duplicate content. Also, take your time submitting your site to all of the directories. Too many attempts at listing your website throughout the Internet can cause Google to label you a “spammer”. It’s better to rise gradually in Google’s search engine results pages (SERPs) than to be banned.

Strategy 6. Broadcast Yourself with Podcasts and Web Videos

People enjoy being able to consume information in ways that entertain them. They also like to pass things like podcasts and videos on to their friends and colleagues. The more your piece gets passed around, the more your online media becomes “viral”. Create an informative video and you will find yourself catering to a demographic of the online community that invests in the latest technical gadgets — in other words, people with money to spend. Be sure to mention or show your website’s URL and give information about what’s available on your website.

Finally, don’t be shy when it comes to getting the word out about your business. The Internet has emerged as the best game in town for promoting people, products, and services. The more you know about search engine optimization, ways of getting content to the masses, and using creativity to excite people to come to your website, blog, or real world business, the more your business will thrive. Learn SEO web promotion and get some skill at SEO web marketing — or take the time to interview and hire someone skilled at doing the work. Put these six seo web marketing strategies to work today and count on seeing a consistent stream of visitors — and sales — in the weeks, months, and years to come.

SEO Web Marketing: Generate Traffic Using SEO Web Promotion: Part 1 of 2

Monday, August 18th, 2008 |

Once upon a time not so long ago, all you had to do to get people to visit your website was submit your URL to a handful of search engine directories. Actually, that “magical time” probably lasted about 6 months. The search engines have gotten picky as of late. If you want to generate traffic these days you’ve got to have SEO web marketing skills — or be willing to hire someone who does.

It is possible but a bit more time and labor intensive to find buyers with cash in hand without spending a lot of money on advertising and “off page” strategies. It can be done, but you end up spending a lot of time “meeting and greeting” as we say here in the South. Your efforts will eventually pay off if you make a concerted effort at locating folks who need what you have to offer. In order of logic and then expense, here’s a list of SEO web promotion techniques that go beyond basic “on page” optimization.

Here are the first three of six deceptively simple strategies for pulling in visitors to your website:

Strategy 1. Add a Blog to Your Stand-Alone Website

This is the first logical thing you can do. The beauty of a blog is that it can be updated at any time and usually in from a number of different electronic platforms. Your constant blog updates (if they’re good, of course) make it possible for you to emerge as the expert authority in your field. People who visit your blog will comment on what you have to say. Keep the conversation alive on your blog and on other blogs in your niche by making good use of the “Comment” section. Do this on a daily basis and you can expect a spike in your traffic.

Strategy 2. Pay to Get Visitors

If you’ve got more money than time, this is the first thing you should logically do to get practically immediate visits. Use Google Adwords and advertising on other pay per click (PPC) networks to get an immediate surge of visitors. Without visitors you receive no sales. You can’t see how many visitors and where they’re coming from if you don’t have some sort of tracking system in place. Tracking your visit results is imparative if you want to run an economical PPC campaign.

Strategy 3. Use Social Bookmarking Networks

This has been the biggest Catch-22 of all. You write content and then you ask that people rate it for helpfulness and clarity. No one will see it if you place it on your blog and say nothing. So the first logical step after posting an article to your blog is to use a ping service like Ping-O-Matic.com or Pingoat.com. Step two involves getting the word out through social bookmarking sites. Doing this yourself has only recently been considered acceptable. But no one will know your post exists if you don’t take the initiative to get the word out. This strategy takes some time to implement due to the number of social bookmarking sites and the different terms of service you have to observed when working with each one.

Now, go think about these three strategies SEO web marketing strategies for a bit. Actually, don’t just think about them — do something! Then come back in a day or so for part 2 of 2. I’ve got three more traffic grabbing strategies to give you.
